Highway 4: Food Allergies
Food allergies may trick you into taking the wrong turn on your Highway to Health.
Food allergies are often hidden. You don’t recognize that you’re reacting to a food. You can’t figure out why you have one or more of these symptoms regularly:
- Chronic headache
- Your joints hurt
- Mood swings
- Cravings for certain foods
- Excess weight
- Gastrointestinal disturbances
- High blood sugar
- Sleep disturbance
- Many other symptoms may relate to hidden food allergies
On the Food Allergy Highway to Health, I’ll get you off the detour and back on the right highway to health by teaching you how to recognize that you’re reacting to a food.
We tend to get sensitized to the food we eat most frequently.
Look at food labels. Many of them contain all of the foods that we most commonly become allergic to:
If you’re allergic to a food and you eat it almost everyday, you won’t recognize the symptoms because they are so low grade and chronic. Often hidden food allergies may take up to two days to manifest. So if you eat some soy used as a filler in a snack on Monday, you may not have symptoms until Wednesday.
Two things keep you from connecting the symptom to the food:
- You didn’t know that snack contained soy.
- The delay in onset of the symptom keeps you from linking it to what you ate 48 hours earlier. (Most of us don’t even remember what we ate 2 days ago.)
If you want a head start in figuring out the foods you react to, order:
Dr. Jo’s Natural Healing Cookbook. My patients loved the way it made preparing allergy free meals so easy and delicious. And it has all the information that you need to determine which foods you’re reacting to. It’s full of a lot of healthy delicious recipes too.
Once you stop eating the foods that you’re allergic to, it will take about 5 days for that food to leave your body.
On the sixth day you may be amazed at how much better you feel. That headache goes away, your stomach stops hurting, your joints don’t ache so much, or your sinuses clear up. People start enjoying your company more because the mood swings go away. Or maybe you drop 5 pounds the first week because you lose all that toxic fluid built up in your system due to the chronic stress of that food allergy.
If you have diabetes your high blood sugar levels may come down once you eliminate the food allergens.
Parents can breathe a sigh of relief when their hyperactive kids calm down after they discover the culprit that stimulates the hyperactivity – hidden food allergens.
Moody, complaining children can become the sweetest little things you’ve ever known when you take them off their hidden food allergens and feed them healthy food.
Of course, food allergies are not the only cause of all of the above symptoms.
There can be a myriad of other causes. But you must find out if hidden food allergies are the cause or part of the cause of your dis-ease. Because then you can do something about it.
Once again, I’ll be right here guiding you along your journey discovering the mysteries and remedies for food allergies.
Now you’re breezing down that Highway to Health!
