About Dr. Jo (Bessie Jo Tillman, MD)
Dr. Jo delights in sharing the message of health. She believes disease is optional if you know how to take care of yourself. And she’s a great coach to help you reverse or prevent disease.
So she writes this blog to keep you up to date with information that may undermine your health if you are not aware of it. She also provides tips on healthy living, how to reverse degenerative diseases, delicious recipes, and ways to enjoyably change your habits to healthy ones.
Dr. Jo (Bessie Jo Tillman, MD) changed her medical focus to include natural healing in the early 1980’s after graduating from the University of California Medical School, San Francisco in 1970, working 7 years as an emergency physician and 3 years in a walk-in care clinic.
Her patients who embraced and applied the healing principles that she taught them experienced amazing reversals of their disease processes. Their improvements generally came gradually and slowly but were often miraculous none-the-less. You too can access these healing principles by reviewing the information and coaching available through Dr. Jo’s books and audio and video courses:
She has been a community education instructor for Shasta College, and a speaker at various community events with some radio and television appearances. She currently serves on the faculty of Shasta Bible College in Redding, California.
Married since 1964 to her loving and supportive husband Pat, they have two wonderful daughters and are currently enjoying 6 feisty grandchildren. She enjoys fellowship at her community church and serving on the leadership team of the Redding Aglow International community lighthouse. She and Pat live on, care for and are restoring 47 acres of God’s forested creation in the mountains of Whitmore, California.
My Personal Journey
My own health journey began in 1966 as a new medical student at the University of California Medical School in San Francisco. Yes, I (Bessie Jo Tillman, MD) was trained in traditional mainstream medicine, a great blessing.
After graduating in 1970, I served a rotating internship at Kaiser Foundation Hospital, Oakland, California. For the next 32 years, I practiced medicine in Redding, California. I was one of the first full time emergency room (ER) physicians at Mercy Medical Center. I spent 7 1/2 years in ER work, 2 1/2 years at a walk-in care facility and the balance of time in private practice.
Modern medicine is fantastic for trauma treatment and infectious disease. It falls short in prevention and reversal of heart disease, diabetes, autoimmune disorders, obesity, cancer and other degenerative disorders.
I loved helping people in those facilities, but I felt more could be done to prevent the suffering many patients experienced from preventable, reversible degeneration of their bodies. I began my quest for root causes of disease rather than just continuing to treat the ‘end of the road’ symptoms.
My own Highway to Health led first to nutrition and a respect for and involvement in the Price-Pottenger Nutritional Foundation.
To aid my patients in transforming their eating habits to healthy ones that heal the body, I wrote Dr. Jo’s Natural Healing Cookbook. It became a great help to them and many saw amazing healing results.
Since that time I have written several other books, published a weekly e-newsletter, Be Wise-Health Wise and developed several Audio and Video courses about health, healing and nutrition. I hope that all or some of them will bless you.
Blessings to you,
Dr. Jo
