Hair Conditioning Recipes

You can use healthy food for more than eating it!

These Recipes May Help You Have Healthy Hair and Scalp

Let me know how they work for you.

Olive Oil and Egg for Dry Hair
Combine:

  • 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 eggs

Apply this mixture to your hair and leave it on your hair for 20 minutes before rinsing in the shower.

The olive oil will help hydrate brittle locks, while the protein in the eggs will promote healthy hair growth.

Avocado and Honey for All Hair Types
Mix together:

  • 1 tablespoon of organic honey
  • 1 mashed ripe avocado

Rub this mixture into your hair and leave in place for 20 minutes before rinsing it off in the shower.
Avocados, rich vitamin E and protein and a variety of vitamins and nutrients, provide nutrients to help your remain soft and healthy.

Apple Cider Vinegar and Lemon for Oily Hair
Combine:

  • 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar
  • 1 grated peel of an entire lemon

Place this mixture on your hair for 15 minutes to absorb the excess oil from your scalp, and then rinse in the shower.
Apple cider vinegar will remove build up from styling products and conditioners and strengthen the hair shaft, leaving you with soft, shiny strands. It will also balance hair’s pH level, kill bacteria, and helps dandruff.

Banana, Honey and Almond for Dry Hair and Flaky Scalp
Mash together:

  • 1/2 a ripe banana
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • A few drops of almond oil

Rub mixture into hair and cover with a shower cap for 20 minutes before rinsing.
Bananas can increase the moisture of your hair, smooth frizz and soothe your itchy scalp.

Coconut Oil

Rub into hair and wait 20 minutes or so before washing your hair to moisturize and condition your hair. In the past a friend of mine showed me how she rubbed hair conditioner into her long hair to protect it while she swam in a chlorinated pool. I have tried this technique and it is helpful. Coconut oil would probably work the same or better. For the sake of the pool, wear a swim cap if you use these techniques!

Some of these recipes sound good enough to eat. I haven’t tried the recipes myself so I will be most interested in your experiences with them.
