Supplement Descriptions

Borage oil and Evening Primrose oil are both omega six oils that contain high amounts of GLA. Some of us cannot convert the omega six foods we eat such as almonds, pecans, sunflower seeds, whole grains, etc into GLA, which is the first step in processing these oils, because we have a block in our enzyme systems. Therefore, if you get preformed GLA in these oils you can get past that blockage and make the necessary prostaglandins, which are short acting hormones in the body that can help fight inflammation, support the reproductive tract, etc.

GLA Borage Oil

Borage oil is a potent GLA source, having the highest GLA content (up to 26%) of any available oil seed.

Each softgel contains:

  • Borage Oil 1300 mg
  • Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA, w-6) 300 mg
  • Linoleic acid (LA, w-6) 480 mg

Suggested Use:

As a dietary supplement, 1 softgel one to two times daily with meals, or as directed by a healthcare practitioner.

Buffered Vitamin C, 120 capsules

Developed by Stephen A. Levine, PhD. This buffered vitamin C is formulated with carbonates of potassium, calcium and magnesium, giving it an acid-alkaline buffering action (pH 7.0 in water) potentially improving bowel tolerance and minimizing hyperacidity.

Each 2 capsules contain:

  • Vitamin C (as Ascorbic Acid) 1000 mg
  • Calcium (as Calcium Carbonate) 190 mg
  • Magnesium (as Magnesium Carbonate) 104 mg
  • Potassium (as Potassium Carbonate) 16 mg

Other ingredients:

  • Cellulose, stearic acid.

Suggested Use:

As a dietary supplement, 2 to 4 capsules, two to three times daily, between meals, or as directed by a healthcare practitioner. For controlling acidity often associated with hypersensitivity reactions. Supplies full dose calcium/magnesium ascorbate.

Chlorella, an algae. The Chlorella cell membrane is fractured in processing so that it actually acts like a sponge to soak up toxic metals and chemicals. Therefore, if you develop pain or nausea in the detoxification process, try taking more Chlorella in order to soak up the toxins and get them out of the connective tissues where they are irritating your nerves. Chlorella is also a super food, because it contains an abundance of nutrients.

This green single-cell freshwater algae is a rich and balanced source of many nutrients that are essential to health but increasingly deficient in today’s diet of processed and refined foods.

Chlorella contains high levels of chlorophyll, vitamin B12, beta-carotene and RNA/DNA when compared with other whole-foods. More than 20 vitamins and minerals are found in chlorella, including iron, calcium, potassium, magnesium, phosphorous, pro-vitamin A, vitamins B1, B2, B2, B5, B6 and B12, biotin, inositol, folic acid, plus vitamins C, E and K.

60+% chlorella is superior protein, providing all of the dietary-essential amino acids in excellent ratios. Chlorella is also a reliable source of essential fatty acids that are required for many important biochemical functions, including hormone balance.

Fish Oil, another rich source of omega-3 essential fatty acids known for nourishing the heart, eyes and brain.

A rich source of long-chain omega-3 fatty acids. EPA (Eicosapentaenoic acid, C20:5 w-3) is an omega-3 fatty acid that is present in high quantities in cold water fish. Oils prepared from fish such as cod, mackerel, salmon, and shark are also rich in docosahexaenoic acid (DHA, C22:6 w-3). Both these fatty acids are important for maintaining the fluidity and function of cell membranes, particularly in the retina and the brain.

Flax oil is a very good source of omega three oils; most Americans do not eat enough omega three oils in their diets. Foods containing omega three oils include walnuts, flaxseeds, pumpkinseeds, and fish. Omega three oils are important for all of the cell membranes. Ingesting them with protein, and particularly cottage cheese, if you are not sensitive to dairy, will provide you with the oils and proteins that make up the cell membranes. By refurbishing these cell membranes, nutrients can move in and out of the cells more efficiently. Dr. Johanna Budwig did some of the original research on fats and oils. She found that if she had any of her patients take flax oil in cottage cheese for at least three months their diabetes, cancers, and allergies all improved. Canola oil is another source of omega three oils, but current research is showing that there may be some long chain fatty acids in canola oil that build up in the liver and may cause problems. Therefore, Dr. Jo does not recommend eating canola oil.

If you find it difficult to consistently use flax oil on your food, then take it by capsule since it is so vital to all cell membranes. Also some people simply do not like the taste of flax seed oil, and prefer to take it in capsule form.

MSM, nutritional sulfur. Sulfur is the third most common mineral in the human body and we are often quite depleted of it. Toxic metals, especially mercury, attach to sulfur and thus can be carried out of the body. The liver also uses a lot of sulfur in its detoxification pathways, which helps detoxify the heavy metals and chemicals. MSM is also important for healing ligaments and joints. Some people with allergies have been improved with MSM.

NSI MSM (Methyl-sulfonylmethane) — 1,000 mg – 240 Caps

Policosanol may effectively promote healthy cholesterol levels by blocking cholesterol formation in the liver, heart and fatty tissue. Policosanol, which is derived from the stems of sugar cane, has emerged as a clinically proven product to promote healthy cholesterol levels. The research suggests that policosanol may lower harmful serum cholesterol (cholesterol circulating in blood) levels, raise HDL cholesterol levels, and reduce the stickiness of platelets, which help blood to clot. The nutrient’s cholesterol benefits have been shown to continue their same levels of effectiveness over time.

Propolis is a resinous material gathered by bees from the leaf buds and bark of trees, especially poplars, birch and conifers. In the hive bees mix propolis with wax and use it for repair and construction in the hive, as well as for insulation and protection. Propolis also contains small amounts of pollen and other bee materials. The bees use propolis to protect the hive against bacteria or viral infection and dangerous toxins. Beehives are a virtually sterile atmosphere due to the use of Propolis by the bees. Propolis is rich in vitamins. High in B-complex vitamins, propolis contains notable quantities of vitamin C, E and Provitamin A. It also contains minerals and trace elements such as calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc, silica, potassium, phosphorous, manganese, cobalt and copper.

Propolis is extremely high in bioflavonoid content. Flavonoids are well-known plant compounds that have antioxidant, antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties. Other properties of propolis include acting as a local anesthetic, reducing spasms, healing gastric ulcers, and strengthening capillaries. Propolis can be used by humans internally or externally.

Propolis has been used to strengthen the immune system and to help fight infections (colds, flu, etc.)

Twinlab Propolis Extract is a concentrated source of raw propolis with pure natural vegetable glycerin combined with various herbs to provide an effective formula for promoting a healthy immune system.
