Celebrate Something

By guest author Susan Russo

“What a wonderful life I’ve had! I only wish I realized it sooner.”

-Colette

The other day I was listening to someone complaining about how they have to sell their house and downsize to another house in the $250K range. (Poor thing!) Many people are experiencing a shift in their life style but instead of focusing on what’s wrong, it’s time to focus on what’s right.

We all take so much for granted and when it’s gone we are left with only memories.  And, sometimes we may be left with regrets of not appreciating what we had, when we had it.

Now is the time to take stock of your blessings, not when they are gone. Today, make a list of all the goodness in your life; of all of your many gifts that you may often times overlook. You are surrounded by so much that is good, so start to focus on it.

Sometimes we are so busy dealing with the everyday issues of life that we make that our focus. We lose sight of the abundance and focus on the lack.

Look outside your window and look at the beauty there, listen to the sounds of nature that you somehow miss, drink in your fortune of sight and sound.

Let someone close to you know how special they are and how happy you are to have them in your life. Celebrate their life touching yours.

There are many ways to master the art of living, by starting each day with gratitude,  by really focusing on your blessings each morning you will not only begin your day  with a feeling of appreciation, it puts everything else into perspective.

We all have things in our lives that can create disruption or unease but these things eventually work themselves out. When faced with an upheaval in your life, by staying focused on how truly lucky you are will help diminish the grimness of how you perceive things.

Celebrating something each day not only makes life more fun, it gives you something to look forward to. Put a new spin on your life by having a sense of pleasure for all that you are thankful for.

It’s the perfect way to get in tune with what is positive in your life and help you appreciate what you so often neglect.

Start each day by simply saying, “Thank-you!”
